Can Offset Bushings be used in reverse?

We get this question a lot! As a blanket rule we don't recommend it.

Compression forces on the shock keep the Offset Bushing in the standard orientation - reducing the shock e2e distance. If you install the Offset Bushing in reverse, these same forces will want to rotate it to the stock position.

But I heard people run them like this...

They do indeed! This is most commonly used to raise the BB after converting a 29er to a mullet setup.

In essence, this works better on some bikes than others. You usually have less rotation around one end of the shock than the other (whether that's linkages or a hard point), this would be the spot you'd have the most luck with an Offset Bushing in reverse.

Some bikes have very little rotation at either end, or if you're using a yoke then you'll have none at all.

Our stance

It's up to you how you use our Offset Bushings at the end of the day. We err on the side of caution, and as such they're sold and marketed on the basis that they're designed to reduce the e2e only.
